Applications Now Being Accepted

by YCCC

Wells, ME (01/10/2022) — York County Community College (YCCC) is excited to announce that it has received approval from the Maine State Board of Nursing to offer a fully accredited Nursing program on our Wells, Maine Campus starting in the FALL of 2022. This is a competitive program with 32 seats. Prior to this YCCC's nursing program has been in partnership with Southern Maine Community College.

To facilitate a Nursing Program, YCCC is pleased to welcome Lisa Gatti-Arnold as our newest faculty member. Lisa Gatti-Arnold holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Her 25 years of nursing experience includes diabetes education, geriatrics, and med-surg. She is a member of the National League for Nursing and the International Association for Human Caring. Gatti-Arnold has been teaching nursing and allied health since 2007 and is passionate about nursing education as an avenue to prepare students to be the nurses of tomorrow.

"The creativity, passion, and experience Lisa has brought to the development and design of a Nursing program for the College have been invaluable." said Tracey Cornell, YCCC's Acting Dean of Academic Affairs. "She has been a wonderful addition to the York County Community College campus and will be a true asset to our program and future students."

YCCC'S Nursing Program is designed to prepare individuals to become registered nurses at the Associate Degree level. The curriculum will blend Nursing courses with general education courses to provide a sound theoretical base of nursing practice. Students will participate in clinical and classroom experiences during each of the four semesters in the program. Clinical experiences will be offered at hospitals and long-term care facilities located in York County. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX Registered Nurse (RN) licensure examination.
